Health seeking behavior challenges in LGBTQ community

LGBT is an initialism that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.The Nepalese Constitution recognizes LGBT rights as fundamental rights. The Nepali Government, following the end of the monarchy, legalized homosexuality across the country in 2007 along with the introduction of several new laws. These new laws explicitly include protections on the basis of sexual orientation.
What are the challenges in health seeking behavior to them?
- stigmatization,
- discrimination,
- financial instability,
- lack of family support,
- bullying/harassment,
- lack of knowledge,
- fear of sexually transmitted diseases(STDs)
- different sets of needs and lack of proper addressing by health personnel,
- hesitation,
- lack of social acceptance,
- unavailability of essential facilities
There are various issues that needs to be advocated and it is equal rights of all people to get adequate health facilities regardless of any kind of sexual orientation. The health personnel should develop healthy behavior or friendly behavior while addressing their issues.Any kind of disrespectful behavior in the process of health seeking should be strictly punished.
